Receive Western Union® Money TransferSM at Service Provider
   Location

You can also call our China hotline at 800 820 8668 (Chinese, English and French, toll-free, valid for calls within China only; not valid for calls made from mobile phones)1 or (8621) 6866 4610 (charge) to check the nearest location.

The receiver can receive the money at Service Provider Location. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Be sure that the money is sent through an authorized Western Union® Service Provider. You need to confirm with your sender necessary information, such as sender’s name, approximate amount sent, MTCN, and country where the money was sent from.


  2. Once the sender notifies you that the money has been sent, go to the nearest Western Union Agent location in China to collect the money.


  3. Fill in the “To Receive Money” form, and present the completed form along with your identification documentation as required2.

  4. Collect your money and receipt.

Receive Money via Online Banking

The receiver can collect the money via Postal Savings Bank of China Online Banking, Agricultural Bank of China Online Banking (limited to branches providing service to receive money via online banking), China Everbright Bank Online Banking and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Online Banking. Please follow the steps below:

   Postal Savings Bank of China Personal Online Banking
  1. Visit any branch of Postal Savings Bank of China to open a bank account and apply for online banking service.

  2. Once the sender notifies you that the money has been sent, please logon to the Postal Savings Bank of China website at www.psbc.com and log into Personal Online Banking, click "Exchange", choose "International Remittance", and then choose "Receive Western Union® Money Transfer". Read and accept the transaction terms and conditions, click "Agree".


  3. Enter MTCN and expected payout amount, select payout currency, sending country and your receiving bank account No. Click "Search".


  4. Please enter your personal information as required. Complete the declaration, click "Confirm". Confirm the transaction details, and then click "Confirm". Your money will be deposited into your Postal Savings Bank of China account directly.


*Receiver’s bank account name must be the same as the name provided by the sender.

   Agricultural Bank of China Personal Online Banking
  1. Visit any branch of Agricultural Bank of China with your Agricultural Bank of China debit card and apply for online banking service.

  2. Please logon to the Agricultural Bank of China website at www.abchina.com and log into Personal Online Banking. In the case of receiving money via online banking for the first time, click "Exchange", choose "Western Union", and then choose "Register/Modify Personal Information". Please register online to verify your personal information, including your name in English, your address in English and other required information. The verification process will take 1-2 days to complete. Upon completion, you can receive Western Union® Money Transfer transactions with your own Agricultural Bank of China debit card via online banking.


  3. Once the verification is confirmed and sender notifies you that the money has been transferred, please logon Agricultural Bank of China Online Banking, click "Exchange", choose "Western Union", and then choose "Receive Money". Select your Agricultural Bank of China debit card No., sending country, payout currency, enter expected payout amount and MTCN.


  4. Accept the transaction terms and conditions, click "Submit". Confirm the transaction details, then click "Confirm". Your money will be deposited into your Agricultural Bank of China debit card directly.


*Receiver’s bank account name must be the same as the name provided by the sender.

DIRECT TO BANK

Singapore, Canada, Malaysia, United Kingdom and New Zealand to China

Currently the Direct to Bank service only limited to the receiver who holds valid China National ID.

Follow the steps below if you are a Direct to Bank Service first-time user:

  1. Receiver should provide mandatory information to sender ( i.e. the receiver's name, receiver's phone number, and bank account details, including name of bank and bank account number)*.


  2. Once the receiver has the sender’s mandatory information, the receiver must, on his or her first Direct to Bank transaction, call the China hotline number at 800-820-8050 (toll-free, valid for calls within China only; not valid for calls made from mobile phones)#1 or (8621) 68664622 (charges apply) between the hours of 8AM - 8PM China time within 3 banking days of the send date, to verify his or her mandatory information, including MTCN, the sender’s country where money was sent from, the receiver's name in Chinese, China ID number and name of opening branch.


  3. Once the receiver’s mandatory information has been verified, the money will be sent directly to the receiver’s bank within 1 banking day (excluding weekends and public holidays)*. Subject to
      conditions such as no system error.


A receiver will not be required to call the China hotline to verify his or her mandatory information on the second and subsequent Direct to Bank transactions to the same bank account but will have to call the China hotline to verify his or her mandatory information if such information changes (e.g. money is being sent to a different bank or the same bank but to a different bank account).

*a) For a first-time receiver of a money transfer using the Direct to Bank service, the receiver must call the China hotline number at 800-820-8050 (toll-free, valid for calls within China only; not valid for calls made from mobile phones)#1 or (8621) 68664622 (charges apply) to verify the mandatory information of both the sender (i.e. the sender's name, the MTCN,Sending amount and the country the money was sent from) and the receiver, (i.e. the receiver's name,receiver’s ID number and bank account opening branch name).

b) A receiver's first Direct to Bank transaction will generally take between 24-72 hours to reach the receiver's bank account, subject to the time taken for the receiver to contact the China hotline to verify the mandatory information, bank operating hours, banking and local holidays, no system error and other applicable restrictions. On the second and subsequent Direct to Bank transactions to the same bank account, it will take as fast as within 2 hours, to reach the receiver's bank account, subject to the time taken for transaction batch, bank operating hours, banking and local holidays, no system error, transactions reach China during China’s banking hours and other applicable restrictions.

c) The receiver's name and bank account information provided by the sender must match exactly the information of the receiver on the destination bank's records. If the information provided does not so match or if the sender otherwise provides incomplete or illegible information about the bank or the bank account number, the money transfer will not be credited to the bank account. In such cases, Western Union will refund the money transfer principal to the sender but will retain the money transfer fee.

d) A transfer will be rejected if the receiver fails to verify his or her mandatory information by 4PM China time on the 3rd bank day (from the date the money was sent).

e) On each occasion the receiver uses a different bank account to receive money using the Direct to Bank service, even with the same bank, the receiver must verify his or her mandatory information for each different bank account.

f) Senders and receivers will not be notified by Western Union or its Agents that funds have reached a designated bank account.
