To send money to China from any designated Western Union Agent locations in Singapore using the Direct to Bank Service, the sender needs to provide only the receiver's name, receiver's phone number, and receiver's bank card account details (including the name of the bank and bank card number). The money will be transferred directly to the receiver's bank card account which can be as fast as within one bank working day* .

Coverage: In cooperation with ChinaPay, a subsidiary of China Union Pay, Western Union's Direct to Bank Service enables consumers to receive money through his or her bank card account at any one of the 56 designated banks in China.

Fast: The recipient will receive the money transfer as fast as within one bank working day**once the mandatory information has been verified.

Fixed-on-send: Singapore dollars sent to China will be converted into Chinese Yuan (CNY) using an exchange rate on the date sent rather than on the date received. This prevents any changes to the amount to be received due to any subsequent changes in the foreign exchange rate.

Steps for Direct to Bank Service
List of Participating Banks
Western Union Singapore to China Direct to Bank (Bank Card Accounts) Service

Sender should fill out the 'Direct to Bank' form at a designated Western Union Agent location, and provide the receiver's mandatory information ( i.e. the receiver's name, receiver's phone number, and bank card account details, including name of bank and bank card account
number)*.

Sender should present the completed form to the counter staff along with the money sender wishes to send and the transfer fee, plus the sender's identification documentation.

After completing the money transfer, sender will be issued a receipt bearing a Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN). Sender should then contact the receiver and provide sender's mandatory information to receiver (i.e. sender's name, MTCN, the sender's country destination).

Once the receiver has the sender's mandatory information, the receiver must, on his or her first Direct to Bank transaction, call the China hotline number at 800-820-8050 (toll-free, valid for calls within China only; not valid for calls made from mobile phones) between the hours of 8AM - 8PM China time, to verify his or her mandatory information.

Once the receiver's mandatory information has been verified, the money will be sent directly to the receiver's bank within 24 banking hours (excluding weekends and public holidays) *.

A receiver will not be required to call the China hotline to verify his or her mandatory information on any subsequent Direct to Bank transactions to the same bank card account but will have to call the China hotline to verify his or her mandatory information if such information changes ( e.g. money is being sent to the same bank but to a different bank card account).

China Hotline: 800-820-8050 (toll-free, valid for calls within China only; not valid for calls made from mobile phones)
Singapore Hotline: (65) 6336-2000

* 1) For a first-time receiver of a money transfer using the Direct to Bank service, the receiver must call the China hotline number at 800-820-8050 (toll-free, valid for calls within China only; not valid for calls made from mobile phones) to verify the mandatory information of both the sender (i.e. the sender's name, the MTCN, and the country the money was sent from) and the receiver, (i.e. the receiver's name, phone number and bank card account information).

2) A receiver's first Direct to Bank transaction will generally take between 24-72 hours for it to reach the receiver's bank card account, subject to the time taken for the receiver to contact the China hotline to verify the mandatory information, bank operating hours, banking and local holidays and other applicable restrictions.

3) The receiver's name and bank card account information provided by the sender must match exactly the information of the receiver on the destination bank's records. If the information provided does not so match or if the sender otherwise provides incomplete or illegible information about the bank or the bank card account number, the money transfer will not be credited to the bank card account. In such cases, Western Union will refund the money transfer principal to the sender but will retain the money transfer fee.

4) A transfer will be rejected if the receiver is required to verify his or her mandatory information and fails to do so by 4PM China time on the 3rd bank day (from the date the money was sent).

5) On each occasion the receiver uses a different bank card account to receive money using the Direct to Bank service, even with the same bank, the receiver must verify his or her mandatory information for each different bank card account.

6) Senders and receivers will not be notified by Western Union or its Agents that funds have reached a designated bank card account.
